Running for MAG #HomeSafeHome · 3 April 2019

Every single day, 15 people are killed or injured because of landmines and other explosive weapons. Almost half of all civilian casualties are children. MAG finds and destroys these weapons to save lives and rebuild futures; helping people to grow crops, attend school and build homes.

Story

Team Panda @oneteampanda (Guy, Charlie, Mark, Michael and Antoine) have been doing crazy races together for 5 years;

2014 - Guy and Michael (while flat-sharing in Moscow), run the 100km Zugspitze ultra marathon (5400m of incline and decline) in 22h

2015 - They are joined by Michael's brother Mark to take on the Lanzarote Ironman (one of the toughest in the world)

2016 - Team Panda takes on the 'Swedish Classic' - 300km bike, 3km swim, 30km run and 90km XC Ski (thankfully not on the same day)

2017 -  The team were joined by Charlie to venture further afield to North Korea to run the Pyongyang marathon (where we all bought posters and got out alive and Charlie came 5th overall)

2018 - Charlie goes rogue/solo to Afghanistan where he comes 2nd! Then on to Kashmir (where he was too busy taking selfies to win a medal)

[2018 - Some of the team sit in a pool sipping beers and persuade Antoine to join the team, some say possibly the best decision he ever made]

2019 1st Half - The team kick off the year with a 90km Vasaloppet XC ski race, Guy racing with pneumonia (some say one of the worst decisions he ever made). Charlie took on the Palestine half marathon and then had a drink after with a Director of MAG (by complete coincidence)

2019 2nd Half - We will run Race to the Stones in July, Erbil in October (TBC) and Beirut in November - and do a shed load of fundraising in between and these are the reasons why;

Every day, 20 people are killed or injured by landmines and unexploded bombs. Almost half of civilian casualties are children.

When the conflict is over, fear remains, as thousands of unexploded bombs and landmines are often left behind, ready to maim and kill at any moment.

Home should be a safe place for everyone. When landmines are cleared, homes can be homes again, allowing children to grow up in peace and safety and communities to begin building a future free from fear.

Your support will mean MAG can do even more to make home’s safe again so please, dig deep and sponsor me today!
