Ikano Bank Robin Hood Half Marathon 2019 · 29 September 2019 ·
In March this year a brave young man called Oliver was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Since then he has been receiving treatment at the Teenage Cancer Trust wards (Hogarth & Fletcher) at Nottingham City Hospital.
The Teenage Cancer Trust wards are not clinical, they are brightly coloured, equipped with TV, games consoles, extra bed for parents stopping over, making stays more homely. There are communal areas where he can meet and speak to other young people undergoing treatments for all forms of cancer. As an out patient Oliver receives his chemotherapy treatments in the retreat lounge where he can watch TV, play games or chat with others.
The Teenage Cancer Trust provides dedicated nurses to support patients and families in hospital or at home.
We are so fortunate to have these facilities and to ensure these continue and other young people in Nottingham can benefit in the future, my friend John and I are hoping to raise a few pounds by running the Robin Hood Half Marathon on Sunday 29th September 2019.
