Story
Welcome!
I am 39 and on the autism spectrum and will be running MY FIRST EVER MARATHON (!) to raise much needed funds for a wonderful charity dear to my heart, AUTISM EAST MIDLANDS
Autistic people can be extremely vulnerable to anxiety and depression as a result of many factors including problems with communication skills, rigidity, sensory overload, isolation, feeling misunderstood, subject to prejudice and being unable to integrate effectively into society.
Without services like these, many people would continue in their struggle to exist, let alone be accepted and treated with the equality, compassion and dignity every person deserves. Every single penny raised is going to a worthwhile cause, providing such valuable resources including, support, assessment, respite, outreach, education, residential care and therapy.
Autism services were there when I needed them most, helping me to see that I was not alone and offering me an opportunity to better understand myself and accept and embrace my neurodiversity.

each step of the way through regular photos and updates in my blog as I take on this almighty challenge. Share each trial and victory alike and please feel free to send lots of positive vibes!
Oh and please don't forget to make a donation to help me reach my pledge target of £1800!! Every single donation, great or small will make a difference to a charity that so many depend on.
I hope Running a Rainbow will offer a glimpse into my world, in particular how running has helped me to create focus, stability and positivity in a life which I otherwise find quite daunting and confusing.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS!
