Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-shortening genetic condition that slowly destroys the lungs and digestive system. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK-wide charity fighting for a life unlimited, when everyone living with CF can look forward to a long, healthy life. www.cysticfibrosis.org.uk

Story

Dear family & friends,

We did it! Both Lorenc and Anne completed the race on Sunday.  Thank you for all your donations and support!

This coming Sunday (21st March 2010)  I will be running the Reading Half-Marathon (again) to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Trust.  CF is the UK's most common life-threatening inherited disease.  It affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system.  Around half of the CF population can expect to live over 38 years, although improvements in treatments mean a baby born today could expect to live even longer (http://www.cftrust.org.uk/aboutcf/whatiscf/).

As many of you know, the reason why we continually support the Cystic Fibrosis Trust is because both Fleur & William suffer from CF.  They are truly wonderful and very brave children and I am simply privileged to be their daddy!  They look just like any other girl or boy of their age, but they also have to fit into their daily lives a strict routine of drugs and physio, as well as regular visits to the hospital.

The CF Trust funds research to treat and cure CF and aims to ensure appropriate clinical care and support for people with Cystic Fibrosis.  In recent  years the CF Trust has funded scientifically groundbreaking research into gene therapy.  So far the results seem promising and we truly hope and pray that a cure or a more effective treatment will soon become available as a result of this work.  However, we need to raise as much financial support as possible for this good work to continue.

I invite you to donate to the CF Trust through this JustGiving website -- it is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you for taking your time to visit this page.

Lorenc

P.S.  I am delighted to announce that Anne Conolly is joining me in running for the CF trust.  Anne also run with me and another friend in 2007 (http://www.justgiving.com/for_fleur/).
