Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Earlier this year, our mum sadly passed away having battled breast cancer on and off for nearly 6 years. She spent her final weeks being looked after brilliantly by the nurses and carers at St Margarets Hospice, Taunton.
The hospice is largely funded by charitable donations and considering this, the care that mum received during her final weeks was outstanding. Having recently watched and heard about the end of life care provided elsewhere (http://tinyurl.com/4h3nb4m), we as a family were extremely grateful that our mum was treated with the care and professionalism offered by St Margarets. It was a wonderful santuary for her and us. Mum loved the nurses and carers and even when she was having a bad day, they managed to cheer her up when entering the room The thought of going to the hospice petrified her, but after just one afternoon at St Margarets, she was feeling a lot more positive and relaxed. They accommodated my mums every wish even allowing us to throw our sister a 21st birthday party in her room. Even the family dog was allowed to attend.
It is for this reason and in memory of our mum that we wanted to take part in a few events to both raise awareness of this fantastic facility and to try and raise some money to allow St Margarets to continue to offer it.
We will be running in the Yeovil half marathon (27th March) and the Great South Run (30th October) and based on Kiers fitness levels, they will both be a big challenge.
So please dig deep and donate now.
