Story
So I am finally putting my money where my mouth is and running the Paris Marathon on April 10th of this year. Instead of running for a large charitable organization I opted to pick a small individual cause that some close friends have a personal connection to:
Jack Cleere is 6 years old and has cerebral palsy. Dr Parks who is a leading paediatric neurosurgeon and specialises in treating children with cerebral palsy using a surgical procedure known as Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy has agreed to perform this operation at cost. The operation will release the stiffness in Jack's legs and give him permanent flat feet which in turn will help him sit, make transitions between postures, and improve his standing and walking. The operation has an 100% success rate and doctors expect Jack will be able to walk without any assistive device in the home and in other protective environments; outdoors he will be able to walk with 1 or 2 sticks which will dramatically improve his standard of living. Anyhow whether you choose to give to this wonderful cause or simply because you want to sponsor my 42.195kms of agony I hugely appreciate the support.
Happy 2011
Lindsay
Important note to donors: As long as Jack requires the funds raised to pay for treatment in the United States, Caudwell Children will manage all payments of funds for the family. Should there come a time, for whatever reason, that Jack no longer requires the funds raised for medical treatment and living expenses while in America then the monies raised will be used to provide similar donations to sick and disabled children living within the UK through the charity, Caudwell Children.
