London Marathon 2012 completed!

A massive thank you to everybody that sponsored me and William, with your help we have raised a lot of money for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital. We are so grateful for all of the support and messages we received before, during and after the event.

Although the run itself did not go completely to plan after picking up a hamstring problem halfway around the course. I did make it around and carried William with me, in truth William carried me the final 13 miles giving me the determination to cross the finish line.

I'm running the London marathon!

I am raising money in William's name. This money will go to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, who are planning to raise money to upgrade and expand their services so that they can help even more babies.

William was born, very poorly, on May 8th 2011. Unfortunately he died on 29th September 2011, he was less than 5 months old. When he was first born he was looked after with such skill and dedication by the staff in the NICU that, against all the odds, he survived and after 6 weeks became well enough to be transferred to Southampton General Hospital and have heart surgery to prolong his life further.

Emma, Eva and I shall be forever grateful to NICU, they gave William a chance and gave us an opportunity to get to know our wonderful little boy, and he got to know his family that loved and cared for him deeply.

So, I'm running the marathon...I'm not a runner and I'm not very fit, it's going to hurt - a lot!
