Are you having a LAFF?
No I really do plan to run the London Marathon. Hopefully in under 4.5 hours but certainly with a huge amount of pride from who I am doing it for, what I am doing it for and for all your donations that will keeping me going.
Who I am doing it for?
Hannah Barrett, a person very close to me, lost her battle with brain cancer in 2010. Hannah is an inspiration. Even when on chemotherapy she swam the english channel as part of a relay team to raise money for LAFF. Never would Hannah be heard to complain, whether jumping into the freezing sea or learning the cancer had come back again. My fitness was a constant joke between Hannah and I - I promised to get fit and a little late I might finally get there.
What am I doing it for?
Hannah helped setup and run the charity Latin American Foundation for the Future [LAFF] after spending a number of years living and working in Peru. LAFF is dedicated to helping young and vulnerable people who have been forgotten and abandoned by family or society, such as street children.
LAFF offer grants and assistance to grass-roots projects - working at local level to achieve maximum impact. LAFF only support projects that aim to be self sustaining, with the aim of creating independence from outside help not dependence on it.
Please watch the video to see in action the great things LAFF do.
.....and all your donations.....
LAFF has secured a single charity place in the London Marathon for the first time in 2010 and it is my honour to run it for them but I need YOU to help them to and donate as generously as you can.
