We provide UK-wide support and information to improve life after brain injury

Story

I am raising money for the brain injury charity Headway UK. The charity Headway helps people who have sustained brain injuries and provides important support and services to them, their families and carers.

In 2001 my Grandad was in a road traffic accident with a drunk driver and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Grandad was not expected to survive and spent many weeks unconscious, four months in hospital and a further two years in rehabilitation. Brain injury can change every part of your life from walking and talking to how you think and feel and
in those early days in hospital, Headway UK provided vital support and advise to my Grandad and his family.

Although things were difficult for Grandad, he lived a happy life with my Grandma and we had lots of great times together. Very sadly Grandad died in January this year and we miss him very much. He was a brilliant Grandad and inspired my interest in History and I loved to play Chess with him.

I have decided to raise money and awareness for Headway UK in Grandad’s memory as part of my Duke of Edinburgh service and I have set myself a target of running 75 kilometres each month as Grandad would have been 75 years old in April this year.

I would really appreciate you support and donations to help me raise as much money as possible for this important cause.
