Fiona is running in memory of Heather Morrison

On the 18th of January, 2014, the lovely Heather Morrison, my honorary big cousin and one of the most beautiful people I have ever met, lost her battle with Sarcoma at just 30 years old.
In tribute to the amazing strength and courage that she showed throughout her treatment, Laura and I have set ourselves the challenge of training for the Cheltenham Half Marathon, which we will run in her honour, for her chosen charity of Sarcoma UK.
Heather and I grew up together, living just 2 doors apart throughout our childhood and I have some of the most wonderful childhood memories of long summers spent playing with her and the rest of the Cardonald Gardens Posse. We went to choir practice together, walked to school together, went to Brownies, played "Flash", had water fights, built a club house, rode our bikes, played on roller-skates, rolled eggs at Easter, sailed on pirate boats, joined dance classes, played barbies, enjoyed sleepovers, made ice-cream floats and always had the best of fun.
She was the happiest, most fun loving girl with amazing talents and today she is missed by so many. I feel truly honoured to have loved and looked up to Heather my entire life.
Heather asked in her will that people raise money for Sarcoma UK in her memory and all of her friends and family have responded wonderfully already: Click on the "In memory of: Heather Morrison" hyperlink below our title summary on the full webpage to see the full amount raised in her memory to date.
Sarcoma UK are a wonderful charity who aim to help more people survive Sarcoma, to find out more about what causes Sarcoma and to ensure that all those fighting Sarcoma today get the best care and treatment available. This is achieved through research, raising awareness and providing support and information to the Sarcoma community.
Laura and I are not exactly keen athletes, the furthest we have ever run was the CRUK 5km Race for Life in support of Heather last summer. However, if it was going to be easy, I guess it wouldn't be as much of a tribute. Please give whatever you can for this great cause.
Many thanks and much love,
Fiona (or wee Fiona to Heather!) and Laura xxx
