Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Ollie Mills and Ashley Dean have given themselves the massive challenge of running four marathons in four days, from Ulverston, Cumbria, to Castle Douglas in Scotland.

Here is the reason why:

On Saturday 22nd September 2011, our little boy Zachary was born. Right from the beginning Zach had a rough time and was very unwell. We didn't know straight away but he was going to change our lives in a way that we never expected. Just before Christmas, when Zachary was 3 months old we were told that he has a condition called Septo - Optic Dysplasia. Part of this condition means that Zachary was born blind.

We always had a feeling that something was wrong with Zach, but it still came as a massive shock to us and our families when we were given the news.

At a time when you are told that your child can not see anything around them, and that their life will always be a challenge, it’s very easy to feel like nobody understands what you are feeling.

This is where Henshaws Society for Blind People came and put their arms around us.

They gave us information, support and the opportunity to gain access to events and groups to meet other families. They are there to support not just Zach for as long as he needs it, but also our whole family, including our older son Alexander, who has a big responsibility to understand how to help his little brother.

Ollie decided to do this incredible challenge for  Zach, to mark the challenges we know that he will face in his life and to show him he will always be there to help him. This gave us the golden opportunity to say thank you and give much needed funds to a charity that has been vital to us making our little boys life as full as it possibly can be. When Ollie’s cousin, Ashley, heard what Ollie was going to do he wanted to help and get involved too. I am incredibly proud of both of them.

Now we need your help to make all the pain, the sweat, the blisters, aches and pains worth it. Please give whatever you can, it really is worth is.

Thank you in advance

Stephanie, Ollie, Ashley, Alexander and Zachary.
