I'm running the 2018 London Marathon in memory of my brother-in-law, Owen Carey, and raising money in support of the Anaphylaxis Campaign.

Owen had just turned 18 when, in April 2017, he had a severe allergic reaction whilst eating out in London, and died tragically of Anaphylaxis. I'm looking therefore to raise awareness of severe allergies in adolescents and young people (15-25), who are most at risk of severe allergic reactions (Anaphylaxis) as they transition into adulthood. #TakeTheKit

As portrayed in the above photo, Owen was devoted, fun and inspirational uncle to his nieces, Ivy and Bertie, and nephew, Gulliver. Bertie, who is featured in the photo, was lucky enough to have Owen as her Godfather - a role to which he adapted quickly and paid great attention.

In addition, despite the restrictions allergies had on his health and diet, Owen never let this hold him back. Always laughing, joking, discussing Star Wars, or playing The Lumineers, he lived life to the full with his many friends and loving family. #RunningForOwen
