Bath Half Marathon 2022 · 16 October 2022 ·

Every week in the UK, around two families are told their child has neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer. We fund leading research projects to deliver new, effective and kinder treatments for children with neuroblastoma. With your help we can save more young lives.

Story

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

January 2022 marked three years since I lost my little nephew, Renly, who was taken from us too soon with a rare childhood cancer- neuroblastoma. I still think about him every day and we all miss him dearly.

After running the Bath Half in 2019 and raising an overwhelming amount for Great Ormond Street Hospital I have decided to have another crack at it, this time on behalf of Neuroblastoma UK.

Neuroblastoma affects around 100 children each year in the UK and is most common in children under the age of 5. It develops from specialised nerve cells (neuroblasts) left behind from a baby's development in the womb. The charity needs sponsorship now more than ever, Neuroblastoma UK are predicting a loss of over 30% in donations this year, which could delay their funding of vital neuroblastoma research for next year and beyond. They don’t receive any government funding and rely on voluntary donations to continue their work.

As an added incentive I will be holding a 'guess the finish time' sweepstake. Once you have made a donation please get in touch and let me know your prediction. The person with the closest answer will be crowned the winner and will receive a hamper!

Bath Half 2019 finish time: 1.54

Bath Half 2020 finish time: 1.37
