Story
Strathcarron Hospice’s vision is to provide specialist palliative care services and expert end of life care for the people of Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth and to promote the delivery of palliative care across this area.
They care for people with illnesses that cannot be cured including cancer, respiratory, heart and neurological diseases.
Their aim is to sustain, develop and deliver a full range of quality services – in-patient, day hospice, community, Hospice@Home, bereavement, pastoral care, lymphoedema, research and education. The focus of their activity will be the patient, families and carers.
They are a charity and their services are provided free of charge wherever they are needed – in people’s own homes, in hospitals and care homes and in the Hospice in Denny. It costs £5.8million to deliver our services. We receive over £2million from the NHS but they need to raise over £10,000 every day of the year from fundraising and donations.
I have previously raised over £2,000 for other hospices along with my family doing swimming challenges and half marathon / 5k runs.
This time I am running the Stirling Marathon to raise over £1,000 for SCH. This will be my FIRST ever marathon so this is a big deal for me!
I am part of the 'Official Strathcarron Marathon Team' and very proud to be taking part.
Please take time to visit the SCH web site and read about some of the wonderful work that they provide.
