Windsor Half Marathon 2010 · 26 September 2010 ·

The Tommy Hollis Children's Fund is a fund for the benefit of underprivileged, sick and orphaned children in memory of our son who died in tragic circumstances. As parents who have lost a child we would like to give loving care to children, in particular those without parents. We will be working with other charities who provide this support in the most direct way possible in order to ensure that help reaches those who most need it.

Story

I did it!

So off we set on Sunday to with a support crew in tow. My cousin Charles stepped in to run with me at the last minute to help ‘encourage’ me round the 13 miles (he’s the sort of person who runs 13 miles for fun and I certainly wouldn’t have managed it without him!) Helen, Matt, Chris, Kate, Mum and Dad were there to cheer us on and over the finish line, with Susie and Rod plying us with yummy things to eat and drink afterwards.

It was a bit chilly and started raining for the finial 3 miles but we completed the VERY hilly course in 2 hours 38 min! Thank-you very much for all you financial support and words of encouragement. I will be having a final tot up at the end of this week and will post the grand total. In the mean time there are a few photos of our day attached.

You’ll Never Guess Who’s Running A Half Marathon.........

On Sunday the 26th September 2010 I will be running the Windsor Half Marathon around the notoriously hilly Windsor Great Park. I am running to raise awareness and money for the Tommy Hollis Charitable Fund www.tommyhollisfund.co.uk

Tommy Hollis was a little person I was very honoured to know in the tragically short time he was with us. Tommy’s parents have since set up this fund to grant money to existing charities working with children.

My training schedule has been off to a slow start and although I can’t fault Basingstoke hospital on the care provided the running facilities are somewhat limited!  My original tight 15 week training schedule has been reduced to a challenging 6 weeks, but I will crawl across the finish line if that’s what it takes!

I have set up a Just Giving web page which can be found on: www.justgiving.com/runningforTommy where you can not only donate but also keep up to date on my preparation!

My employer British Sugar has generously offered to double the amount of money raised, up to £2,000. It would be wonderful to be able to give £4,000 to the Tommy Hollis Charitable fund so please give generously.

Thank-you very much for your support
