Story
We are running the Great North Run In Memory of Iain Lee.
On the 19th September 2018 Iain Lee passed away from serious brain injuries after he was attacked outside The Roundhouse Pub in Newton Aycliffe.
Iain Lee was the most positive person I had ever met. He loved life, he loved his friends, his family and his job. He was the life and soul of the party, he made you smile even when you really didn't want to. His laugh was contagious and filled the room.
Iain was a son, a brother, an uncle and an amazing friend. His family and friends were left completely shattered in pieces. Iain died with his whole life ahead of him. Yet one day to still be a husband & a father. And these things he longed to live for.
Iain looked into running the Great North run in 2018. He asked me to run it with him. Iain put both our names forward for the ballot. We unfortunately didn't make the ballot so we were going to reach out to charities to see if we could run for them. Life got busy and we never got round to it. Because you always think you have next year. It is something Iain would have loved to do. So what better way to remember our friend then to run with him in our hearts.
We have chosen and feel privileged to run and raise money for Headway Darlington & District. Headway is a charity that aims to promote understanding of all aspects of brain injury and provide information, support and services to survivors, their families and carers. Please help us in supporting such a brilliant charity that offers support to those who have survived and live with a brain injury. If Iain had survived the assault he may have needed support form charities like this.
We are also running to raise awareness of how it only takes one night, one evil act to completely destroy a whole family and loose someone their life their future. Violence is not the answer think before you act it is that simple.
So please take a moment to read Iain's story and please share.
Thank you for your donations you really are helping make a difference.
