Story
Well here we are ... running London Marathon for the second time ... oh my goodness, what am I doing?!!?
Quite simply, I forgot that I had entered the ballot, but unbelievably I got in! Shocked and staggered I thought to myself, "I should really do some training!"
Anyway ... 6 months later ... the training didn't exactly happen with many other things in life getting in the way. So with 4 weeks to go, I entered Yeovil Half Marathon and recorded 1:37:50 (not too bad with a busted hip and on very little training!)
So why am I doing this? Well this is another opportunity for me to give a little back in the world. This time for St Margaret's Hospice and more specifically, to help those that helped loved ones.
St Margaret's was picked by my wonderful wife Chrissie as they helped her Grandpa when illness took hold. Without going into too much detail about the tough times, the amount that Chrissie and Hannah talk about their Grandpa is heart-warming. I wasn't lucky enough to meet the man himself, but the memories, laughter and tears shared by my in-laws about Grandpa is lovely to hear. He clearly was a much loved head of the family and is now dearly missed by many.
So please give any money you can to a very good cause. This is going to hurt and so if I can just raise £10 for every mile covered that will ease the pain just a little.
