Story

Sailors Henry Ebdell and Rupert Hallawell are cycling nearly 1000 kilometres to the UK passing through Holland, Belgium, France and England on a couple of old push bikes we picked up in Amsterdam. We'll be dressed in some thermally appropriate but socially inappropriate clothing.

As we puff along battling the wintry winds, we'll be carbon neutral. But we'll use up plenty of oxygen, so we thought we ought to give some back.

The best way of doing this is to plant trees. Rainforests are the lungs of our world, producing the oxygen we all take for granted until it's gone (or you're struggling uphill on a bike with no gears). They also have the remarkable ability of capturing carbon dioxide, locking away the carbon and releasing the oxygen.

We're hoping to raise £5000 for the World Land Trust (Patron: Sir David Attenborough). Every £5 donated funds the planting, nurturing and protection of one tree, helping to reduce carbon dioxide, repair our rainforests and restore them for wildlife.

So at one tree per kilometre of our journey, that's 1000 trees. Please give generously - everything we raise goes directly to the World Land Trust's Plant-A-Tree project.

Of course we'll have a lot of a fun on the way - and if you're able to make a donation, we'll keep you posted on the sensational highlights.
