Lake Windermere Marathon · 22 May 2022

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

I'm no runner. Sure I've done a few 10k but rarely attempted anything further. With a significant birthday on the horizon later this year I wanted to mark it by attempting to complete a marathon trilogy! Half, Full and Ultra...

Parkinson's is a horrible disease. In my professional career(s) I've met too many people who I've seen go from active, able individuals to physical and mental husks of their former selves. I can only imagine how difficult and frustrating this must be. I feel privileged that I am in a physical position to attempt this challenge and will be inspired to push on by those suffering from this debilitating condition.

If I make it to the start line for the Lake Windermere marathon in May and finish, I will then aim for the Cannock 50km trail race in June. I will round off the trilogy with the Great North Run in September - saving the "easiest" until last!

If I manage to complete all three I will be delighted. If I don't then at least I will have raised money for a very important cause. I will also be thankful that I have been able to attempt this. Some are not so fortunate. Please donate generously. Thank you.
