SleepOut for LandAid - Birmingham · 6 February 2020 to 7 February 2020 ·

LandAid is holding it's first ever Edgbaston SleepOut at Edgbaston Cricket Ground! Brave one night out to make a change.

Story

On the 6th February 2020 I will be braving one night out outside, to help prevent young people from facing the same prospect, every night.

I am doing this to get a feel for the hardships that too many people in Birmingham, and in the UK, have to cope with by sleeping rough.  It simply is not acceptable.

The LandAid Midlands Board has agreed to challenge themselves to raise £1M over the next 3 years and Every penny raised by the Birmingham SleepOut will help to fund St Basil’s Live and Work Village in West Birmingham, supporting vulnerable young people in the area.

The Live and Work project is entering into its second phase. The first phase, which LandAid also part-funded, provided 32 homes in shared flats contained within hospital grounds, for the use of young people who have experienced homelessness. This gives them a supportive and comfortable home while they complete NHS apprenticeships.

The second phase of the Live and Work scheme would provide an additional 50 homes for young people, providing a total of 82 for young workers. It would also provide ‘move on’ accommodation for tenants from the project’s first phase, as well as affordable accommodation and career opportunities for young people unable to live in a family home.

This is a hugely successful project and I hope you are able to support this fundraise by donating whatever you can.

Thank you for your support & best wishes
