We create opportunities for vulnerable children and young people in Kenya to break the cycle of poverty and inequality and fulfil their potential. Raising Futures Kenya is the new name of Vision Africa.

Story

In Memory of Sarah Hicks my late wife, who was an inspiration to so many, we started a charity under Sarah's nickname Boo in 2003 which was one of Sarah's parting wishes to help Children in Africa, a place where Sarah had spent some time trying to overcome her cancer.

To support her wishes myself and family visited Kenya and established a partnership with Vision Africa who are a UK family dedicated charity, that carry out the most amasing work, right across Kenya. We partnered to build a college to help deprived and destitute girls, with an aim to help them build a sustainable future. The project has been going over 10 years and has benefited 100's of young orphaned and destitute girls. To help them grow in self esteem and enable them to sustain life after a 2 year period going through the Vision Africa development program.

You see and watch TV coverage about Africa, but until you see first-hand and experience the conditions it’s hard to describe. Lots of TV coverage covers Malaria which is something I contracted upon my visit. Luckily I had arrived back in the UK once the full blown Malaria got hold of me and I can safely say it’s the worst most frightening experience of my life, leaving me near to death itself. Now you can only imagine what that’s like when you’re in a Third World with poor hospitals.

Over the past few years business and life has been rather hectic to say the least and at last I've got off my ass to raise more funds for the project. VA has managed to maintain the project despite a very difficult market in which to gain charitable donation.

So here we go, I’ll do the peddling and I would really appreciate all your help raising as much as possible. 100% of your donation will go to the Girls project in Kenya and we can revitalise and push Boo and VA to the next level.
