Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On Sunday 7 October 2018 three members of Russell Taylor will be taking part in the MBNA Chester Marathon.

Ben will be running 26.2 miles whilst Kayleigh and Greg will be running 26.2km (the metric marathon).

In a nod to Greek history - the first marathon commemorated the run of the soldier Pheidippides from a battlefield near the town of Marathon to Athens in 490 B.C. According to legend, Pheidippides ran the distance to announce the defeat of the Persians to the Athenians.

However, not having put in the same level of dedication and training as Russell Taylor's group of warriors, he delivered the message "Niki!" (Victory!) then keeled over and died. Here's hoping history doesn't repeat itself!!

We will be completing this challenge in aid of Claire House Children’s Hospice, a local charity and Russell Taylor's charity of the year.

Claire House Children's Hospice is based on the Wirral and helps seriously and terminally ill children enjoy life to the full by creating wonderful experiences and bringing back a sense of normality to family life.

To find out more about Claire House and the brilliant work they are doing on the Wirral and at their new site in Liverpool, please take the time to visit their website at https://www.clairehouse.org.uk

Thanks.
