I heard through a mutual friend that Lara had set up her charity, Craft Aid, to help an impoverished village in Uganda. Having just been to east Africa to do some voluntary work, I'd fallen in love with the area and the people. So, naturally I was interested to see what the charity is doing.

I was immediately inspired by its work and the dedication of the people working in Craft Aid. The Kilimanjaro climb is a great way to help raise the funds for the much needed clinic they are building at Kammengo Ffunvu. The clinic will be providing basic first aid as well as medical help to the high percentage of villagers suffering from HIV infection.

A few months ago I saw Mt Kilimanjaro from a plane window and it was exhilirating. Little did I think that I would be climbing it to raise money for charity! But to be able to climb the mountain while raising funds for the clinic at Kammengo Ffunvu is a privilege and a great challenge. And an exciting one!

After the climb, I will be going onto Uganda to visit the village. I can't wait to meet the people there and see what the funds I am raising through you will be doing for them. Let's see what we can do together!
