BT Walk
Campaign by UNICEF UK (RCN 1072612 (England & Wales) and SC043677 (Scotland))
BT and Unicef are working in partnership to equip young people with the digital skills they need for the lives of tomorrow. BT are taking on a 5 mile a day walking challenge to raise money for Unicef's work.

Story

The Co -Sec team are supporting Unicef UK because Unicef work in over 190 countries around the world protecting children. The sad fact is that right now, millions of children are in danger. They face violence, disease, hunger and the chaos of war and disaster. Unicef ensures more children get life-saving food, vaccinations, education and protection than anyone else. With our help, they can build a safer world for children.

The world is currently home to the largest generation of young people ever. 1.8 billion young people are on the verge of entering the workforce and 85% of the jobs that today's learners will be doing in 2030 have not been invented yet.

Collectively women and girls walk more than 200 million hours daily to collect water. This is time that could be spent in the classroom learning the digital skills they need for the future.

BT and Unicef are working in partnership to equip young people with the digital skills they need for the lives of tomorrow. By walking 5 miles a day for 1 week I am raising awareness of the significant barriers millions of young people face when trying to access education and demonstrating how BT and Unicef are working together to provide these young people with the digital skills they need for a successful future.

BT's CoSec team will together cover a distance of 500 miles, which is how far it is between the 3 offices where our team are based - Bristol, London and Glasgow. In fact, we're feeling very daring and maybe we'll manage to double that over the month of March.

Please show your support by donating whatever you can spare to our challenge. We're going to walk a lot every day so that women and girls elsewhere don't have to.
