Story
Some of you may know this AMAZING, STRONG, and KIND (and 100% goofy) person and some of you may not. She is the strongest and most brave person on the planet and we all love her. Here is her story and what we are doing to help her raise money for this amazing charity. Please give what ever you can ❤️
Ok... so here it goes...
As many of you know I have fits, what alot of people don’t know is why. The haunting four letters PTSD. My PTSD is not from war, terror attacks or car crash the thing you usually associate it with. Mine is from another Taboo subject; circled with shame, guilt and disgust. But I want to make it just another 4 letter word one that we can talk about one that people feel they don’t have to suffer in silence about RAPE.
It has only been the last 2 years that the truth has left my mouth. And with the help of YELLOW DOOR a charity based in portswood I have had the help I needed 14 years ago. I have learnt how to feel again, I have learn to accept and trust my emotions, I have learnt to shed the shame and guilt which had been displaced onto me and most of all I have learnt to be PROUD of myself. This isn’t just a pity story this is a story of reclaiming Power and finding myself.
This fantastic charity has 12 month waiting lists and relies on people to fund raise and donate to keep running. I cannot advocate enough as to what a life changing charity this is and the age range walking through the door is so diverse. It bring tears to see children walk through the door the same age as I was and knowing the journey they are about to endure is heart breaking. But the charity is there and if I can do anything in my power to keep it there I will! So I’m taking up the challenge to raise some funds and say thank you, but I need some help! Who’s in?!
On Saturday 28th March a few of us are going to walk from Swanwick to Gunwharf quays. This is 15 miles and a rather large challenge for us to take on (I’m bloody unfit). The aim is to raise some money for yellow door. If you would like to join us for the walk or donate/ help fundraiser in another way then please do so!
