In 2013 (April) I was diagnosed with breast cancer. To say I was devastated is an understatement. There are no words to describe how a cancer diagnosis changes everything! I underwent 2 surgeries, spent 24hrs in critical care and had 6 rounds of chemotherapy. It was bad- really bad but I'm lucky and had the best support from family and friends. Unfortunately my story is not unique: every 10 minutes someone in the UK is told they have breast cancer.
Another way I found support was through an amazing charity called breast cancer care. At one of their weekend support events I met a great bunch of ladies and got to access lots of helpful information. The whole weekend was funded by the charity and was a bit of a lifeline for me. So my walk is my way of giving something back!
Breast Cancer Care understands the emotions, challenges and decisions people face every day. They know that everyone's experience is different. 691,000 people in the UK are currently living with a breast cancer diagnosis and right now, Breast Cancer Care can't reach everyone when the need them. But with support, they can be there for more people with care, support and information from day one.
