Big thanks to Justin, Nell and Gary for their bike ride this weekend from London to Norfolk. Your support means so much to us xxx

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Our beautiful daughter Edith, age 3, was born 10 weeks too early and suffered an extensive bleed in her brain. This has resulted in her being diagnosed with quadriplegic cerebral palsy. Edith can't sit unaided or walk. She can't move anywhere independently. She has very limited use of her right arm and poor head control. She cannot feed herself and needs help with most things. Other than her physical disability though she is a wonderfully bright, intelligent and happy three year old. We are blessed that she has excellent speech and a great sense of humour and love of life. We spend alot of time doing her physiotherapy to try and strengthen her muscles and give her the best chance of becoming independent. Last year we discovered the Bobath centre in London. We have visited it twice now for therapy. It. is an amazing place and has specialists who provide physio and occupational therapy tailored to Edith's individual needs. Because they work exclusively with cerebral palsy, they have expert knowledge and skills. As well as pushing Edith to reach her full potential, the therapists also train me in the best ways of helping her to achieve. I have found it an invaluable source of support. We are desperate to take Edith for another set of therapy there. It has been 8 months now since we last raised the money for her to visit. We have a year to go until Edith starts school and I am determined to get her strong enough to support her weight on her feet so we can avoid having to use hoists at school. The Bobath costs £3600 for 2 weeks.

The second thing we are trying to raise money for is to buy Edith a special tricycle. She had a go on one recently and I've never seen her so excited before (see uploaded video.) She is always asking to go out on a bike with her older brother, Adam. I never dreamed that she would be able to push the pedals on her own but she amazed us all and was so proud of herself. The trike would be designed for her specifically and has special support to hold her upright. It is the only piece of equipment she has been in so far that is enjoyable as well as being so good for her. She has been telling everyone about her bike ride and it would give her her first taste of independence. The trike costs £2400.

Edith's Daddy, Sean, is going to bike 130 miles from Holt, North Norfolk to the Bobath centre in North London on 26th September 2011. He needs all the encouragement he can get so please help him and support Edith by donating to our Just giving site.

Many thanks for your generosity

Ruth, Sean Adam and Edith xx
