We partner with the people of Kabubbu, a rural community in Uganda. Working with our sister NGO, we transform lives by providing funding, lifting many out of poverty via our Primary & High School, Health Centre, Training, Farming School, Tourist Resort, Church/Community Centre & welfare programmes.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.  We are raising money for two charities - The Quicken Trust on this page and St Wilfred's Hospice (linked page).  Please read on to find out why.

On Sunday 30th June 2013, staff from Manor Primary School and their friends and families will be walking 7 miles across the clifftops at Eastbourne to celebrate and remember the life of Karen Miles.

Karen was a very dearly loved and respected colleague who quietly contributed every day in a myriad of understated ways to our school community and we miss her.  Karen died earlier this year, having demonstrated such courage in the face of her illness.

Karen was the driving force behind a project we have at Manor, working in conjunction with the Quicken Trust.  Through the Trust, the children at Manor sponsor a young boy and a grandmother from Kabbubu in Uganda.  The money the children raise helps to put the young boy through school and hopefully on to university and at the same we try to bring support and comfort to the grandmother by providing some basic amenities to help her bring up her grandchildren.   For Karen, making a commitment to anything was exactly that - a commitment that you don't walk away from.  We want to carry on the fundraising that Karen helped us start so that Manor Primary School's commitment to these two people continues just as Karen would expect it to.

We're not doing the longest or hardest walk in the world, but it will be more challenging for some than others.  Please donate just a little bit if you can, so that we can use our love and memories to do something positive in Karen's name.
