Cycle from Vietnam to Cambodia · 15 November 2015

We care for children and young people with profound physical disabilities and complex health needs. At St Rose's young people are challenged to do their best and supported every step of the way. Staff strive to see them go out into the world and enjoy living with confidence.

Story

I am once again on the fundraising trail with another exciting adventure, working to get some badly needed funds for St Rose's special school in Stroud where my youngest daughter is a student. St Roses is a very special place, the students who go there have significant physical and/or learning difficulties.

The unique thing about St Roses is that it really values the students for what they can do rather than focusing on what they can't. The team of teachers, therapists nurses and assistants strive along with the students to attain the highest levels of independence possible for these very challenged young people, they achieve some amazing results.

Each year the school needs to raise thousands of pounds for specialist equipment and opportunities to help the young people with the daily challenges that they face. All the money that we raise will help the young people go out into the world and to live with confidence and ambition.

So, the challenge! we are planning to cycle from Vietnam to Cambodia, a distance of 550km in 30 + degrees heat and 75% humidity, its going to be a hot and sweaty few days!  Training is underway and we are building up our leg strength and also "saddle fitness" I will keep you posted on how this goes!

The aim is to raise £10,000 and I am hoping that you will be able to help me to do that. I am fully funding the costs of the trip myself so anything that you are able to donate will go directly to St Roses school and will benefit the children immediately. Please dig as deep as you are able, the young people at St Rose's are an incredibly special bunch who don't benefit from support from the large national charities, you could make a tremendous difference to them.

thank you!

Ruth
