This time last year we found out that our son, Simon, has a rare form of cancer. He has been receiving treatment since in Liverpool, and has recently transferred his care down to Oxford to be closer to home.

Throughout Simon's treatment he has been supported by a Teenage Cancer Trust nurse, a healthcare professional whose job is to aid a young person through the process of their treatment, this assistance has eased our burden hugely. These nurses are able to act as a first point of contact for any issues the young person may be facing during and beyond treatment. For Simon this has been predominantly about easing the access to his prescription medication for when he has run low, as well as getting important information quickly through to his oncologists about the progression of his condition. This assistance has meant he has been able to have the same level of care without having to spend nearly as much time running back and forth from hospital appointments.

I have therefore decided to try and raise some money for this charity as this work is so important to so many families like us and Simon.

So this Autumn, I will be taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon and raising funds for a vital cause. Thank you in advance for supporting my huge challenge and donating whatever you can, it will make a massive difference.
