Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Working for a charity I see lots of people taking on extraordinary challenges to raise money for fantastic causes. Foolishly after watching the London Marathon I thought that would be a pretty big challenge for me so applied for place.

As I’m sure most of you know I’m very passionate about Maggie’s and the support, help and reassurance they offer for people facing a cancer diagnosis and the people supporting a loved one, after loosing my mum to cancer 3 years ago (still feels like yesterday though). I’m fortunate that I get to see the difference this building and staff makes to so many people, everyday. Many people just like my mum or like me and my family.

I’ve kindly been offered a Maggie’s charity place to run in the 2019 London Marathon, and (some might say rather stupidly, having only really run 5km before) have accepted the place, eeek! So on the 28th April 2019 I’ll be “running” 26.2 miles to raise money for this truly amazing charity!

I would be honoured if you would sponsor me anything you can, Maggie’s receives no governmental of NHS funding and is entirely funded by the kindness of people. I’m aiming to raise at least £3,000 for Maggie’s Oxford which would pay for;

- A month of Yoga, helping people to find physical and emotional balance using gentle movements and stretches.
- A month of Tai Chi classes, increasing balance and co-ordination and releasing stress and strain.
- A month of Relaxation sessions designed to make space to help find some peace and calm.
- A week of Benefits Advice, helping people find out what financial help they may be entitled to.
- 5 sessions of 1:1 Psychological Support to help people who may be dealing with complex situations, perhaps with how to cope with a terminal diagnosis or family issues which are adding stress to an already difficult time.
- A 4 hour Nutrition Workshop focusing on nutrition and cancer, looking at how to boost nutrient intake before, during and after treatment.
- 51 days of tea and coffee, sitting at the kitchen table and chatting over a drink is an essential part of Maggie’s. (We can go through a lot of tea and coffee)

Totaling £2,999.60

Every penny you can give will help Maggie’s Oxford to be able to offer free professional help, support and reassurance for people with cancer and their families and friends.
