Macmillan - Longest Day Golf Challenge 2012 · 21 June 2012 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
If you are just visiting this page and are not totally sure who the participants are then please read on. We are four soldiers serving in 16 Regiment Royal Artillery based in Rutland and are no strangers to fund raising events, with all members of this team having taken part in major physical challenges from London to the Falkland Islands. So we needed something new to tackle, Trev came up with the idea of tackling 4 golf courses in one day for MacMillan Cancer. I know a few of you will be thinking, "GOLF a challenge"? On a daily basis golf is exactly that for many of us, but now taking it a stage further 4 courses in one day is really, nearly walking twenty miles (for some even more), carrying a golf bag, hitting anything up to 400 shots and concentration spanning 16 hours.
We plan to play the following four courses on 21 June 2012, Greetham Valley, Rutland County, Rutland Water and Luffenham Heath with all four courses agreeing to waive the green fee for us. It proves to be an early start with the first tee due to be 0400 and hopefully the final putt being before 2200. Any money you can spare will be greatly appreciated especially in these hard times, but you can be assurred that it will be put to good use by our chosen charity.
We will be updating you on how we are getting on prior, during and after the event.
