WIRES, the NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service has been rescuing and caring for native animals for over 35 years. Our mission is to actively rehabilitate and preserve Australian wildlife and inspire others to do the same. We have over 4000 volunteers in 28 branches.

Story

As a community at the Royal Veterinary College, we have been devastated to hear about Australia's fires: causing unprecedented damage to native wildlife and their habitat.

It's been estimated that 1.25 billion native animals have perished in the fires. We are hoping to do whatever bit we can to help. We will be hosting several fundraisers at the RVC to donate to WIRES, a wildlife rescue charity in Australia.  WIRES is doing amazing work rescuing and treating sick, injured, orphaned and abandoned wildlife in New South Wales. Many of the animals have severe burns, lung damage from smoke inhalation, and are suffering from exhaustion, starvation and dehydration. WIRES are the largest wildlife rescue organisation in Australia, operating 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

The charity takes donations in Australian Dollars. 1 AUD= 53p for reference! $10=£5.26; $20=£10.52

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
