Story
In 2009 at the age of 26 our good friend Mark Taylor was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), up until this point he was an aspiring semi-professional footballer for Whitley Bay FC, and a very popular PE teacher at Kenton School in Newcastle (where he is still employed & utilised to this day). This horrendous physical condition stops muscle activity, including gripping, walking, speaking, swallowing and breathing, there is currently no known cure.
We (including Mark) would like to thank the MND Centre at the Royal Victoria Infirmary for all its support through Marks condition, by raising funds for the Newcastle Healthcare Charity, which supports the centre, to continue the amazing work it does!
Myself, Mark’s friends, and the North-East amateur football community will be taking part in another charity match on Sunday 25 May - the match will be at the home of North Shields FC (Gardner Park, NE29 6UA). All players taking part will be donating to the Newcastle Healthcare Charity (thanks boys!).
We'd like to say a huge thanks to Temp-Team, a North-East recruitment agency who has kindly offered to sponsor this year's match and is fixing us up with kits!
We welcome you all to the game (location & kick off time to be confirmed shortly), to the auction being held at 42nd Street in Whitley Bay afterwards, and encourage you to donate to the incredible centre that has helped our best mate!
Donating online couldn't be simpler, just follow the links on my page, alternatively, you can text the amount you'd like to donate to the number 70070, simply write the code SHQC87 and the amount you'd like to donate (e.g. SHQC87 £10).
Thanks in advance!
