Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In January I embarked on a trip to Africa to work for Rwanda Aid, an amazing charity set up to help the most needy and vulnerable people of the "Land of a Thousand Hills".
Although one of the most densley populated countries in Africa, Rwanda is also one of its poorest and the charity brings comfort and relief to the very poor, the sick, the suffering and the dying - particularly the orphans, widows and widowers in the aftermath of the 1994 genocide.
The charity is involved with a number of vital projects, but one in particular that I would like to focus on is the housing crisis on 'Nkombo Island'. After a bad earthquake last year there are still many families living rough in really squalid conditions. Rwanda Aid is helping to build new houses and these cost around £2,500 each (including water harvesting, organic toilets, solar powered lights, fuel efficient stoves, good foundations and mosquito nets). They are cost efficient, sturdy, rainproof and provide long term security and comfort to some very desperate people. My target is to raise enough to build two houses (or maybe more if possible..!) and a donation from you, however large or small, will help to achieve this goal.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to Rwanda Aid and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation.
Rwanda needs your help so if you would like to make a difference please dig deep and donate to this deserving cause.
