London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·

Chernobyl Children in Need(CCIN) was formed in 1999 to help to alleviate children’s suffering in areas of Belarus still affected by the Chernobyl Nuclear disaster. We raise the money needed to fund projects to advance the welfare of children.

Story

The Royal Wootton Bassett Hounds have been raising money for Chernobyl Children in Need (CCIN) for a number of years now.  More information about the charity can be found on the website (ccin.org.uk).

5 Hounds will be running the London Marathon in October 2021 on behalf of CCIN:

  • Heather Ponting-Bather
  • Barrie Brown
  • Paul Borgman
  • Steve Heavens
  • Ben Walter

In addition to running the marathon a number of other charity raising events are planned, including: club meal out, BBQ and inter-club relay, race night, quiz night & competition to guess our team's average time to complete the marathon.

The October 2021 marathon was originally due to be run in April 2020 but was postponed a number of times, as a result many of the Hounds originally collecting for the charity were no longer able to make the reschedule date(s). Other members of the club have also organised and helped out with the events. We'd like to thank them all for their efforts and support.
