Story
Nichola and I are celebrating our 10th wedding
anniversary and 15 happy years together in May 2023 which wouldn’t be possible
without the fantastic care from the Christie all those years ago however not
every case has the same happy ending ours has.
It’s almost a weekly event where I hear of a new friend or family
recently affected by Cancer and in June last year one of our closest friends
Julie Cash, tragically lost her mother the lovely Barbara far too early to Pancreatic
Cancer.
Garry, Julies Husband, has been with me at pretty much every
event I’ve completed over the past 10 years and often the only member of my
support crew, including driving me to Pennington flash at 3am in the morning
for Ironman UK and still being there to cheer me home as the sun stared to go
down!
Although very out of shape, and not swam or ridden since the
Castle Howard triathlon back in 2021, It feels right to return to the water, hit
the pedals and lace up the trainers to try and raise more money for the
Christie.
I’ll will be attempting to complete a trio of Triathlons in
2023, including the the Salford Triathlon in July building
up to the infamously difficult Sandman Triathlon in North Wales in September, finishing with the Wilmslow Triathlon
I’ll be swimming nearly 4k in the water including a dip in the both the Irish Sea & Salford Quays over 100k on the bike and nearly 35k in the running shoes)
I appreciate many of you reading this will have donated to
some of my past events for which we are eternally grateful.
No amount of money we raise can ever be enough to pay back
what the Christie have given to us and I'm sure many of you reading this now,
will already know of the many lives saved by the amazing work they do.
The Christie is one of Europe’s leading Cancer treatment
and research centres with the hospital based in South Manchester and
funded through Charitable donations.
