Hello Everyone!
My name is Ryan, I am currently a Haematology doctor at University College Hospital London. A lot of the work I do is looking after patients with blood cancers, mainly leukaemia and lymphoma. Often the life saving treatment for these cancers is a bone marrow transplant, where stem cells are taken from a donor and given to the patient.
Anthony Nolan helps by matching these incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need them for a lifesaving transplant. They also fund scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond.
I am running the London Marathon for two main reasons - the first is the raise money to support this incredible charity so they can carry on doing the work they do, so the patient I have the honour to look after have to chance of getting a life saving transplant. And secondly raise awareness of how easy it is to be get yourself on the register for potentially be a life saving donor.
If you're between 16-30 check out the website and sign up today https://www.anthonynolan.org/8-ways-you-could-save-life/donate-your-stem-cells.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and support me and Anthony Nolan.
Much love,
Ryan x
