Virgin London Marathon 2013 · 21 April 2013 ·

We are the only UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by Scleroderma and Raynaud’s. We exist to improve awareness and understanding of these conditions, to support those affected, and ultimately to find a cure.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have signed up to run my very first marathon. Apart from asking myself the key question of “can I actually complete 42km?” there is however another major reason why I am doing this marathon.

My dad brought my brother and me up in a very competitive sporting environment. He was always encouraging us to push ourselves, never give up and always to do our best in everything we do. My dad was no exception to this and lead by example, if he was not out cycling or running he would be surfing it up on the waves in California. He was a true inspiration to me as well as many others who had the privilege to get to know him. This however is going to be a very emotional run for me, as you have seen very briefly above, my dad meant the world to me and I could not think of a more fitting and crazy thing to do than to dedicate this marathon to him.

He sadly passed away in 2007 at the age of 55 from a very cruel disease called Scleroderma. To date there is still no cure for this disease. Therefore I have chosen to support the Scleroderma Society in raising the awareness of this disease and with your donation and support will go a long way in providing much needed research and awareness of this disease.
