My name is Amanda Rock and I have a 10   year old Grandson named Ryley O'shaughnessy who is Autistic. When Ryley was 2 years old he became infatuated with buses, by the time he started nursery they had to change the numbers (1-20) on the wall, as due to his liking for buses he had learnt to count to 1000... by the time Ryley was 7 he knew every bus route in the West Midlands. Last year Ryley was 9 and he now knows not just the routes but the make & model of every bus and whether they have extras like wifi. To celebrate Ryley's 10th birthday we are travelling from John 'O' Groats to Lands End by BUS to raise money for The National Autistic Society. We left our hometown of Stourbridge on Saturday 20th July and travelled to John o groats and are travelling the route over the following 4 weeks.This trip is quite challenging for both of us due to the different aspects of Ryley's autism and my mobility issues. We will have no assistance along the route, it is just us and two cases containing all we need for 4 weeks and any fundraising items.
