I am running for Joanie MacIntosh, my aunt and life long friend who is currently living with this cruel disease, which robs you of your personality, life experience and dignity. It's a small thing to do for everyone past and present who has or is suffering from Alzheimer's and to support those who give up their time to provide care and support to those in need.
I am running the Scottish 10k 2021 for Alzheimer Scotland to help ensure that nobody faces dementia alone! Estimates put the number of people living with dementia in Scotland at over 90,000 and it is predicted that this number will continue to significantly increase in the coming years. Sadly, there is no current cure for dementia and only a few forms of drug treatments are available, that is why Alzheimer Scotland aim to provide as much support as possible to people living with dementia, and their families and carers. Alzheimer Scotland offers care, information and support to people with dementia and carers in Scotland. Their services include a 24 hour Freephone Dementia Helpline (0808 808 3000), Dementia Advisors, Dementia Nurses and medical research. Thank you for your support, it is greatly valued and very much appreciated.
