Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Running the marathon is not an easy challenge for anyone and for someone who doesn’t even enjoy running makes the challenge that much harder. But there are many reasons why I have decided to take part in the London Marathon in aid of Breast Cancer Now, in April 2020.
My Granny Igoe had breast cancer in her early 60’s and after surgery and treatment, fought the disease with success, before her passing in 2001.
Then in 2014 my mother-in-law was diagnosed with the disease. For such a young woman to be diagnosed with breast cancer, hit us all really hard and came completely out of the blue. But with care, support, surgery and treatment she made a full recovery and can now watch her 7 grandchildren grow.
Cancer research is such an amazing charity and is so very close to my heart. Over the years and since my Granma's passing, research has come on so much and been able to diagnose breast cancer at the very early stages, which ultimately saved my mother-in-laws life. With donations it can really save so many more lives.
