On Sunday 23 May I will be running the Edinburgh Marathon which has been rated as the
fastest marathon
in the UK. Whether that fact will matter to me after 26 miles - I am not sure!
Regardless of how quickly I can get round, the reason I am doing it is twofold - partly because my mother-in-law is running it (and she 'asked' me if I'd run it too!) and partly to raise money for Street Action, specifically some of the children that Street Action works with in Burundi.
Street Action is a
charity that is committed to
supporting street children, particularly in South Africa and Burundi.
You can find out more about Street Action by visiting the
website - http://streetaction.org
Dieudonne, a former street child who runs the project in Burundi, is visiting the UK in June and we will be discussing how the money raised can best be used to help the children there, in practical and sustainable ways.
If you are happy to help out then you can make a donation through this page.
On behalf of street
children in South Africa and Burundi - thank you for anything you can give. If you haven't donated through
justgiving.com before, its really easy. You can donate with credit or
debit cards from anywhere in the world - so send us you euros, dollars,
yen, roubles, whatever you like, and if you are a UK taxpayer we will
get a bit of your tax back from the government as Gift-aid.
