The Himalayan Trust UK provide health and education training and supplies to the mountain people of the Nepal Himalaya to help them lead healthier lives and to give children the tools to go on to further education and be able to serve their communities better.

Story

I'm running the London Marathon 2021 for The Himalayan Trust UK.

Since 1989, The Himalayan Trust UK has supported some of the poorest and most courageous mountain people in Nepal. With roots in mountaineering, the Trust is focused on improving health and education in the remote mountain region in Taplejung.

The Trust holds onto the guiding principles from Sir Ed Hillary (the founder of the first Himalayan Trust) to focus on basic infrastructure, minimise unnecessary costs and look for long-term sustainability and independence for the mountain people.

Having travelled to Nepal and as a Trustee at the Trust, I've been fortunate to witness first-hand the generosity, warmth and hardship of life in the remote but beautiful Himalayan mountains. Most importantly, the huge impact that a small amount of money can have on improving the quality of lives for the Sherpa people.
