In 2008/09 the Sabre Charitable Trust is Davis Langdon LLP’s charity of the year, and the Birmingham office is embarking on an ambitious and exciting event to generate essential resources for the schools supported by the Sabre Trust in Ghana.
On 17 October 2008 the entire Birmingham office will be undertaking “Sabre’s Apprentice Challenge” – making collections of new and good condition used items, according to wishlists of resources identified by the Sabre Trust. Davis Langdon teams will then pack the donations into dedicated resource vehicles, ready to be driven to Ghana one week later. The resource collection and packing event will take place in Victoria Square, in central Birmingham.
One of the biggest barriers to academic achievement in Ghana is the absence of resources in rural schools to enable teachers to deliver the curriculum as it is intended to be taught. By collecting toys, books, arts & crafts materials, sports equipment, and tools, Davis Langdon Birmingham will equip schools with much needed resources to support the teachers and also enable the pupils to undertake extra-curricular activities.
All of the resources are being donated free of charge by retailers and community groups in the Birmingham area, but we really need your support for our fund raising efforts to get these resources to Ghana.
As an office we are aiming to raise £10,000 to cover the costs of transporting these goods down to Ghana, where they will be distributed to rural schools in the KEEA district where the Sabre Trust works. Please do dig deep to help us get these resources to school children in rural Ghana.
