The Sachs Appeal team has emerged victorious!

Last Saturday, in the rain and the wind, we ventured bravely to Dorney Lake , wetsuits, bikes and running shoes at the ready. After what was, in some cases, a convoluted and wet journey to the site (Stephanie, Olivia and Claudia braved the wilds of Windsor to cycle from the town centre to the venue), the weather thankfully held out for us during the race itself.

The first challenge lay in the lake, as we swam through aquarian jungles of duck weed, pursued by other keen Triathletes. Any pretensions to sportswomanly behaviour went out of the window and it was each woman for herself as we struggled out of the lake and into the transition area.

After tugging off our wetsuits and slipping soggy feet into socks and trainers, we ran to the start line for the bike lap. Trying not to be intimidated by the pros on their flashy racing bikes, our trusty steads (Olivia's half as old as her) carried us around the lake and back to the transition area.

With bikes racked back up and helmets cast asunder, each competitor plowed on into the run. By this stage, muscles were getting weary but, after turning the half way point, we powered home, Emma even pausing to pick up a stray child (luckily her own) before sprinting for the line.

Each lady positively oozed Sachs Appeal both during and after the race!
