Brighton Marathon Weekend 2021 · 12 September 2021 ·

We are the largest regional charity in Sussex and Surrey working to prevent youth homelessness and support children and young people’s emotional and mental health. We do this by providing a safe home, increasing life skills and self-confidence, and improving emotional wellbeing and mental health.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I’m running the Brighton marathon to help raise money for the YMCA. All money raised will go to supporting homeless young people in the city. Brighton has a high rate of homelessness amongst young people.

Half of those who access homelessness services in England are between the ages of 18-24. The reasons for homelessness are complex, from family breakdowns and mental health concerns to job losses or bereavement. Young people can be particularly vulnerable and it is these young people that YMCA DLG supports.

Here are just a few examples as to how the money you donate could make a difference:

  • £46 provides 24 hours of support in our accommodation for a young person in crisis
  • £120 pays for a young person to receive eight counselling sessions with a qualified counsellor
  • £500 pays the deposit for a young person to move into privately rented accommodation

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
