Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Inca Trail trek is now done, it was a lifetime experience & VERY hard, but that was expected.

We had a fantastic team of UK guides, doctors, Peruvian guides & porters and only one of our group failed to complete the trek & had to be hospitalised.

I suffered no effects of altitude sickness, but my knees suffered on the descents(& still have not recovered).

The weather forecast for Peru was 60% chance of rain every day, but we had some wet trekking days. The important day ( climb to the Sun Gate then descend into Machu Picchu was a clear, bright dawn with a bright sunny day to follow - so the previous poor weather was all forgotten.

If you've ever thought of doing this trek - stop thinking & JUST DO IT!!

The Justgiving page will be open until the end of January 2013 to allow donations.

Calendars & books now available- e-mail me for details on lionel@safetysurvey.co.uk

As an additional incentive to separate you from your hard earned cash, I am offering limited edition Photobooks & Calanders, & Flyfishing experience days at a private resevoir, all available for additional sponsorship.

I will also donate a 1 day flyfishing experience (including tuition & tackle if required) to the top sponsor. Please e-mail me for details on lionel@safetysurvey.co.uk

The trail goes to the "Lost City" of Machu Picchu in the Andes mountains of Peru. The city was established by the Inca civilisation around 1400AD but then abandoned 100years later until discovered by an American explorer in 1911 and it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This is a high altitude trek, and the highest point is half the height of Mt Everest, so was a test of my fitness & stamina.

Many of you have been generous enough to sponsor me in the past. Since 1999 I have raised over £41,000 for the GDBA & BHF and this time I would like to add BREAST CANCER CARE to our list.

This worthy charity provides care and support to sufferers and those affected by breast cancer - I'm sure that ever one of us knows someone in that category,so please be generous in helping me towards my target.

Thanks

Lionel
