EMF in memory of Dad ......

Edinburgh Marathon Festival Full Marathon 2019 · 26 May 2019 ·
Most of you will know that I lost my Dad in November 2018 to a sudden Stroke, this was just a month before my wedding in the December, at the time my focus was on taking care of Mum, my family, organising a wedding, Christmas and my new husband.
As we entered 2019 and I thought about the usual New Years Resolutions and fitness regimes, it dawned on me that my 50th year was fast approaching and that I needed to challenge myself both physically and mentally to re-energise and to give me a focus, something I could do for myself which for me, marks the passing of my lovely Dad.
I completed my first London marathon when I turned 40 (and again when I was 43), Dad supported both my training, fund raising and along the route in London on both occasions. I am certainly no athlete, I am making up my own training plan, which is usually a mixture of yoga, farming and runs in and around Broughton Astley and Lutterworth, often past a coffee shop !
I have to say, that now I am ten years older the training hurts a lot more and I don’t recover as well, that said I am determined to finish the 26.2 mile Edinburgh Marathon, to raise money for a Charity that is linked to the cause of my Dads passing and to make a difference.
I would like to raise a minimum of £1000 for the Charity, and to do this Mark has drawn on his young farmer days and come up with the idea a ‘Charity Duck Race’ ! 🦆🐥
So on Sunday 14th April we are looking to race 600 plastic ducks on the River Soar at the bottom of the farm, Marks sister has donated a prize to the winning duck of a short stay (low season) in their Spreacombe Holiday Cottages, you can buy a duck at £2.50 each (or two for £5, even 4 for £10 😂 🙏 ) by donating to this page and stipulating how many ducks, each duck has a number so we will then add your name to the duck master list with your contact details.
It would be lovely to see you on the day, parking via Fosse way farm entrance, so you may need wellies, refreshments will be available, all proceeds raised will be donated to the Stroke Charity and also a second Charity called Sense, which supports people living with complex disabilities.
