Help me support vulnerable Syrian families this Winter:

$190 will provide an Emergency Winter Kit to a vulnerable Syrian family, containing warm blankets, sleeping mats and rugs, shelter reinforcement, fuel for heating, and soap, helping them to survive winter.

$95 will provide an Emergency Winter Kit to half a vulnerable Syrian family, containing warm blankets, sleeping mats and rugs, shelter reinforcement, fuel for heating, and soap, helping them to survive winter.

$48 will provide an Emergency Winter Kit to 1 vulnerable Syrian individual, containing warm blankets, sleeping mats and rugs, shelter reinforcement, fuel for heating, and soap, helping them to survive winter.

Over 9 years of conflict have devastated the lives of millions of Syrians. Ongoing violence has left the economy in ruins, and has decimated homes, hospitals, schools and markets, leading to widespread loss of life, the breakdown of families, and the destruction of livelihoods, pushing millions deep into poverty.

In 2020, more than 11 million people need humanitarian assistance. As the crisis continues into its tenth year, 6.1 million Syrians remain internally displaced, living makeshift shelter, tents and damaged buildings, and 5.6 million have fled the country with little promise of returning due to ongoing hostilities and a lack of employment opportunities and access to basic services.

Inside Syria, millions of people have been left destitute and stranded in deplorable conditions – particularly in the northwest – and the imminent winter season represents a huge threat to their survival.

Despite being a desert region, winter in Syria brings strong winds, heavy rains and flooding, and drastically varying temperatures - whilst it can be mild during the day, temperatures can suddenly plummet at night. Extremes of temperatures like this can be extremely damaging to the health of the most vulnerable and can even be fatal for those without proper shelter, winter clothes, food or access to medical care.

Three million displaced Syrians require urgent support this winter, including 1.2 million living in camps and 2 million living in dilapidated and unfinished buildings who will be exposed to the harsh seasonal elements.

Our winter project in Syria will support approximately 3,000 people - 70 per cent of whom have been displaced from their homes and now find themselves forced to weather the winter season in makeshift camps or unfinished buildings without basic necessities. The project will target some of the most vulnerable including pregnant or lactating women, those with chronic diseases, single and female-headed families, and the disabled, wounded and elderly.

To help protect them against the harsh, wet and cold winter weather, each family will receive: shelter assistance in the form of plastic sheeting to improve their resilience to the wet winter weather, jerry cans to hold fuel for heating, sleeping mats, warm blankets, hasira/carpet. They will also receive a voucher to purchase 10 litres of fuel for heating, customised to their individual needs and stoves. Lastly, each family will also receive additional soap to help promote safe hygiene practices and enhance their protection against COVID-19.

We’ll be sourcing these items from the local markets in Idlib and Aleppo governorates, helping to also support local people through contributing to the economy.

Thanks you all!
